Artist Notes: In The World 6, Fairfield and Baghdad, contrasts a placid pond behind what was once a grist mill in Fairfield, Connecticut with a soldier on patrol in Baghdad. (The soldier's cuff is folded up; it is very hot, but rolling up the cuff is against regulations.) The water in both places mirrors the scene. The figure of the soldier is based on a press photo by Spencer Platt. The painting is acrylic on stretched canvas on heavy duty stretchers, with painted sides. A frame is not necessary.
