Artist Notes: Spring Yellow On Blue is about yellow tulips on a blue table cloth seen in the Spring. We were visiting The Morven Museum and Gardens in Princeton, New Jersey, one April day. As the group collected to hear the guide explain the works on display, I caught sight of a table in an adjoining room covered with a navy blue cloth, and on it were laid these marvelous tulips and lilacs. So I used my camera to capture them, and rejoined the group. When it came time to make a painting from my photos, I decided on this rather unusual composition: a vertical painting without reference to up or down.

The painting is acrylic on canvas, with heavy duty stretchers, and painted sides. It was given as a gift.
