Artist Notes: Among my series on people working in New York City is the "Metro Music" series, of subway musicians. In the New York subway system musicians play in passageways and on platforms, and add some pleasure to the frantic rush. This was the passage that connects to the shuttle train between the west side and the east side at 42nd street. The instrument is authentic: the erhu. This is acrylic on stretched canvas. The framed dimensions are 36 x 23 inches. The shadow frame cuts off none of the painting, as other frames do. $1,300
