Artist Notes: The Milky Way is part of my "Abstracts and Nebulas" series. It is based on a NASA space photo. Who could imagine a red "milky way"? As with the nebulas, the abstract nature of the forms and subject matter excite the realist painter in me, and offer a chance to let the brushwork take off.
